Question about Wacom Intuos Basic Pen S Black

Can you use this thing only with your own programmes and professional photo editing programmes or also with common PDF editing software (e.g. Adobe Acrobat or Preview from Apple)?

I don't know why it says "French/Italian"; it doesn't matter. The software (including detailed instructions) for the tablet must always be downloaded from the Wacom website. The tablet works without any problems on my iMac (set to English).
