Question about Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM

We are looking for a good zoom lens. Now we have read some reviews of the EF 100-400. Almost all the reviews use the lens with a relatively good camera. We own a Canon EOS 800D and would like to know if this rather inexpensive camera can handle such a professional lens. Are there any serious losses due to the cheap camera?

The camera can cope with the lens, I have used it on a Canon EOS 77D (almost equivalent to an 800D) and EOS R.
But on the 800D with APS-C sensor, the focal length is 160-640mm.
I would also look at the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM (1/2 weight and 1/3 price).
