Sony Alpha 6400 Kit

Until now I have always had a travel camera with a large zoom (30x, Lumix TZ81) and was very satisfied. Now, unfortunately, it has dirt in the camera and I need a new one. Unfortunately, there are no such cameras available any more and I will have to buy a system camera with a lens (as light and simple as possible and a zoom of at least 135mm). The Sony Alpha 6400 doesn't seem too bad, but the choice is confusing. Above all, you never know whether it is a current camera. This one has a release date of 2023, but comments up to 5 years old. With other cameras it's the other way round. What would you recommend (criteria: current, as compact as possible, light, simple, set with at least 135mm zoom)? Or how do I find the best camera? Thank you.
I bought the camera in 2021, with the 18-135mm zoom. It's quite possible that it was launched in 2019. The same camera is probably still on sale, otherwise it would have been given a new name. I'm very happy with it, especially APS-C with a good lens - even if it makes the whole thing a bit heavier and bulkier. For the sake of convenience, I also have a Lumix with a 30x zoom (TZ91).
Hi,
The α6400 delivers powerful performance in a compact, lightweight body. Whether fast action shots, impressive landscapes or easy selfies - you'll always take aesthetic, high-resolution photos and 4K HDR videos with it. If you are still unsure or need more details, please contact us directly. We'll help you find the perfect camera for your needs!

The a6400 is not necessarily a replacement for a compact camera. It is considerably larger and heavier than the TZ81 and is unlikely to fit in a jacket pocket, especially with the 18-135 (27-202.5) mm zoom lens. On bike tours I take the a6400 with the compact and light (and not bad at all) standard zoom E PZ 16-50 (24-75) mm OSS (in the handlebar bag). If weight and compactness play a major role, I would rather recommend a Sony compact camera from the RX100 series. The latest edition (RX100 VII) has an 8x zoom (24-200mm) at f2.8 - 4.5. It has practically all the features that can also be found in modern system cameras and there is practically no difference in image quality compared to an APS-C camera, except in very unfavourable lighting conditions. As the body is not very grippy, I recommend the matching leather case from Sony and/or a customised and self-adhesive leather cover from japanhobbytool.com.
