The Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock has a 300W power supply unit. This power supply unit is larger than the docking station. However, I need a smaller power supply for a construction. Is it possible to connect a smaller power supply unit? What function would this restrict? If it is only about the charging speed of the laptop, it would not be a problem. However, if certain functions of the docking station would be reduced, that is not good. My laptop has a 65W power supply, so the 135W power supply could be sufficient. What kind of laptop do you have? One with a lot of RAM and a large graphics card? Then 135 watts could be a bit tight.
My experience tells me that for a normal laptop, 135 watts is enough. However, it becomes problematic if you have too many external devices connected. E.g.: external hard disc - 2x monitors etc.
