Creative Sound Blaster AE-5
PCI-E x1
Quick question, I had SoundBlaster live, AWE 64 etc sound cards. Very good cards, the only problem was the deplorable drivers. No or very little follow up of them. This was between 1996 and 2005. Then I gave up CreativeLabs. We are in 2020, how is the driver tracking? What about the software suite?
The driver is totally crap, the software is pure crap. Every time they upgrade Creative does something worse, they can't get their card to work! My advice: ASUS sound cards, Creative for me is NEVER again!
Hi, I still have sound cards that are decades old and in good condition, I haven't looked at their drivers in the meantime. As far as the AE-5 is concerned, I had no difficulty installing and updating the drivers in Win 7 and Win 10, the online support is functional. The software provided is intuitive and has a check function for the latest update. Rather generous for setting up audio in 7.1, 5.1 or stereo. This is definitely the first sound card to offer an expandable LED daisy chain and this product has provided me with a lot of entertainment. I have used this sound card on 2 motherboards that came out 6 years apart and I have had no problems. I disabled the motherboards on-board audio via their Bios but it wasn't even a necessity. The gain in sound quality on Logitec 5.1 speakers is already very noticeable, in short, I recommend.
