Once the Meross box has been installed, can the garage still be opened and closed using the manufacturer's remote control (Hormann)?

Yes, you can connect both cables (Hormann and Meross) at the same time. I have also installed this for myself and it works perfectly.
Yes - it's easy. You connect it to 2 connections of your opener.
