Is it possible to put the fan not above the ramsticks but towards the back?

Hello..

You could mount the fan the other way round, but then you would need a good air outlet to the front. This is because the air flow of the CPU fan must blow THROUGH the cooling head. Furthermore, you would also have to let the fan blow inwards at the rear of the enclosure. Generally speaking, the air flow must blow through the enclosure from the back to the front. The disadvantage of this is that all the warm air is exhausted through your Ram and possibly the hard drives.
