Is it true that one needs the remote to use this projector and cannot do it otherwise? Does it have embedded Chromecast? Or can it automatically switch to the HDMI input without requiring one to use the remote?

It is basically an Android TV OS..if you dont want to use the remote, the alternatives are keyboard, mouse.. It has embedded ChromeCast which works quite well. I havent seent it switching automatically to HDMI on switching on my BD player, but I suspect that one can configure the HDMI CEC to do that.
