In the video it is shown how to pair this product with Amazon Alexa, but Amazon Alexa is not necessary for any functions of the Sonos One, is that correct?

and how is the installation done without Alexa?
To add Alexa, you currently need to: 1. move your Sonos account to e.g. Germany (change country in profile). 2. have access to an app store that carries the Alexa app (e.g. ask your dear German work colleague) and 3. then connect the whole thing to an Amazon account with a standard address in Germany (for German) or the USA (for English).
The installation works as always with Sonos. Voice can be optionally configured afterwards.
