If I connect this access point to the router / switch, does it take over the existing WLAN, i.e. the name and password?

Greetings, if the router is not one from UniFi no. You have to download the app to your smartphone and enter it yourself once during setup. Important roaming between multiple access points is only possible with a network controller from UniFi or if you host it on a virtual machine. Have a nice evening.
