I would like to have a short-throw projector. But I really don't want to mount such an ugly screen under any circumstances (it looks really stupid, doesn't it?) Can you really not use the projector on a smooth plastered wall? Is the picture unusable?
I had originally had the same plan ... However, the wall was - in my case - not flat enough and I decided (reluctantly) in favour of an "ugly" screen (Elite Screens EzCinema), which I can roll up very easily and then take down again and stow away "discreetly". The device can adapt amazingly well to various surfaces, but they really have to be absolutely flat (no plaster) and white, then the AURA 2 works perfectly.
My experience is that the picture looks very, very good on a smooth canvas. However, there is a clear reduction in contrast. Black is never completely black, but rather (dark) grey. The whole picture also looks a little milky. For me, it was clear that if a projector, then with a CLR screen. You then have more of a cinema feeling and not a TV feeling. A nice feature of the Aura 2 is that it also has an art mode. This means you can project an art image onto the screen in an energy-efficient way. Then it looks like a real painting. I hope this answer helps.
