Question about Bose QuietComfort 35 II
I need headphones for the home office, which I can also use otherwise. Are the background noises (children's screams;-)) very audible for the person I am talking to on the phone? Would the Bose 700 be more suitable?

All sounds are about as audible to the person you are talking to as with a normal telephone. Whether this is better with the Bose 700 is unknown to me.
Noise cancelling refers to what you hear, and especially if there is noise behind or next to you, you won't hear any of it with the Bose QC 35 II.
Whether your microphone picks up, you would have to adjust the system settings and increase the sensitivity.

I own a QuietComfort 1 and cannot recommend this model as a headset at all.
1. you can't hear yourself speak, which is very irritating. 2.
2. in Windows, at least, you can redirect the microphone input to the headphones, but the sound is delayed and then you really hear every little noise from the environment, with amplification.
