I have an Arlo Pro 2, which allows me to record videos manually or automatically (motion) and keep them for a week for free. I bought an Arlo Ultra and they cheated me: without a subscription you can't record or take pictures, you can only watch live. What about the Pro 4 (or the Pro 3)?

The Arlo Ultra is capable of recording video locally but with some limitations.

You will need a base unit and the videos can only be viewed later when the SD card from the base unit is removed and plugged into the PC (not possible from a mobile device). 
 
For the Pro 4, it is possible to record a video locally.
