The camera uses between 2 and 3% of battery power per day, recording only when detected. The solar panel is fairly efficient, recharging at a rate of 6-7% per day, even in winter.
I haven't had this camera that long but it has never dropped below 93% battery charge. And we've had some bad weather since then. Today is no exception and my battery is showing 100%. So the battery lasts very well. The only disadvantage is that it takes a little longer to respond. The one with power has a clear advantage. But I have extended the recording field a little and so it records what I need.
