How does it work with the firewall functions? With all other manufacturers (from Zyxel to Sophos, Fortinet to Palo Alto) you pay a fortune for licences. What functions are supported (e.g. web filters) and how are signatures etc. updated? Also, how does it work with firmware updates? Do they just come or do you have to pay extra?
I was able to do some research and indeed Ubiquiti has no plans or similar follow-up costs with the "Dream Machine Pro Max". The range of functions offered by brands such as Cisco, Zyxel etc. are more interesting for companies as they offer far more than the "Dream Machine Pro Max" can do. The signature updates follow as firmware updates. The firewall functions of the "Dream Machine Pro Max" are as follows:
- Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDS/IPS): detection and prevention of threats through signature-based IDS/IPS.
