How do you connect the laptop to the monitor? Simply with a USB-C to USB-C cable?

Yes!
I took one that says something about 40Gbps (not a Samsung) and the computer is charged via that.
(not a power-hungry high-end gaming PC)
All other data such as sound and network also run via the USB C cable.
Yes, it works very well with mac and windows. However, I have only managed it with the one supplied by Samsung.
