How can I give the extended network a new name? I don't want it to be called exactly the same as my router. I click the box in the setting and later I don't get the option to choose a new name.
Repeaters simply work by receiving data blocks and sending them again. In order for a new WLAN SSID name to become available, the device must have a little more technology, the WLAN client mode and a WLAN AP are necessary.
I think the cause may be different, it may have nothing to do with the repeater? If the FritzBox switches off the WLAN, the third-party product (for the FritzBox, Devolo is third-party) is informed, but it doesn't understand this. I assume that the Devolo repeater maintains the WLAN to the cameras without a connection to the FritzBox. This means that the cameras have WLAN but do not reach the FritzBox (GateWay). If the cameras cannot reach the FritzBox, but the WLAN is still there, the DHCP renewal will no longer work and the IPs of the cameras will no longer be renewed. If the FritzBox is online again via WLAN, the cameras will not notice this, as they always had a WLAN connection. In the assumed situation, could the cameras be provided with fixed LAN IPs?
For the FritzBox I would definitely use a FritzRepeater, which detects WLAN shutdowns and also switches off the client WLAN. But it will also show the same WLAN name. This is also common to enable fast controlled forwarding (and also the mash).
If you want a second SSID, connect a WLAN AP to the LAN port on the Develo as a test.
