Good and cheap for indoor sports photography are mutually exclusive. You won't get far indoors with a low-light zoom on an APS-C camera. This 70-300 might still work for sports photography outdoors in the sunshine. In the hall you can forget it. I would consider a 2.8/70-200 as a minimum.
