Hi all, can I buy the camera separately and integrate it into the network, or do I need a router from Arlo?

Hi, you can buy the Arlo Pro 4 separately. Only needs a WLAN, no router. This is no longer necessary with the Pro 4. Works super well, very easy to install and set up.
