I recently bought the monitor and am basically very satisfied.
However, I have a problem when I set the response time of the screen in the menu to level 4 (the fastest).
Some pixels flicker a little when I'm gaming and that looks very unattractive, especially in FPS shooters.
It looks to me like it's too fast for the monitor and it can't handle it.
I have tried all possible graphics settings and also lowered the Hz. without any visible improvement.
on level 3 the problem is only very slight and on level 2 it is no longer present at all.

Is there a known reason for this, or does the monitor already have a defect?

This sounds like a defect. Unless you didn't use the cables that came with the unit. 
Slow cables can cause problems like this. Or if you use a secondary monitor and synchronise the display or something. 
Otherwise send it in for warranty.
