Hello, if I use my Arlo Essential without a plan, I only have the motion alarm but no more video when motion is detected. I would need the plan for that.

If I buy this SmartHub, will I have video again when motion is detected? Or what exactly is the point of this hub?

Hi, when you buy the Smart Hub, you have the option of saving all videos on the Smart Hub and also deleting them.
When the Smart Hub is full, it deletes the oldest videos again.

Without a subscription, most of the features don't work. For example, you won't be able to define the area to be monitored, you won't be able to play videos locally on your tablet, and you'll have to remove the SD card each time, etc. In other words, Arlo doesn't care about its customers, especially when the price of the devices is prohibitive, and worse still, the subscriptions increase drastically every 18 months-2 years. 
It's only the look that's sexy. Don't fall for it. 
And don't forget that the 'brand-ESG-trend-cleantech' storytelling is just the 'cool' side of Verisure, a company that is the subject of an avalanche of complaints in Europe for misleading consumers at prices that are also exorbitant.
