Hello... can I connect my Macbook Pro Retina 2015 via HDMI? Will I then get a good and smooth picture? Does my consideration make any technical sense at all? Thank you very much!

I use the monitor with a Macbook pro (2016) with USB Type-C. So the Macbook is powered, display and also my peripherals are connected with one cable. I connected my Macbook pro (2011) via HDMI for you to see how this fits. I wouldn't recommend it, but I don't know if a 2015 Macbook pro would perform better.

I connect my Surface Pro 6 to this monitor via the display port and it is simply amazing. The monitor also has HDMI, so I assume that the quality should also be great. One problem I see is that the Macbook Pro 2015 already supports HDMI 2.0, if not the refresh rate would probably be limited to 30p and then it wouldn't be really good.
It's important that you can do 60p, otherwise it's not such a smooth picture.
For 60p to be possible, it needs Display Port 1.2 or even newer or HDMI 2.0 or even newer.
To be able to switch on HDR, it needs at least HDMI 2.0a or Display Port 1.2 or newer, as far as I know.
