Question about Ubiquiti UniFi Video G3-Flex
Hello all. I currently have 3x "G3-Flex" cameras connected to the "Cloud Key Plus Gen 2" with a 1 TB hard drive. They are set to the maximum possible resolution including sound recording. 30 days are to be kept. I would like to connect a total of 12 cameras and have them backed up with the same settings with a 30-day retention period. The hard disk is already full with the 3 cameras and the Cloud Key is very busy (despite 1000 MBit network performance losses when accessing). The performance problem has already been addressed here. A) Does anyone know of an overview/list/table/whatever for these cameras that indicates how much hard disk space is required for setting xy with z days? Or in other words: How many TB do I need for 12 cameras...? B) The "Cloud Key Plus Gen 2" is supposed to work with up to 20 cameras??? I very much doubt that! Or am I mistaken? Does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone had any experience with performance? Yours sincerely. Andreas

You can create a setup there with the number of cameras + model for the runtime of the recording as well as the quality for the calculation of the HDD.

I am not familiar with so many cameras, BUT I will try to give you some input.
A) Memory consumption per time
With continuous recording (without motion detect) my cam consumes 219MB per 10min. per day that gives 219MB x 6 x 24 = 31.5GB. With 30 days of storage, this results in 946Gb, i.e. for 12 cameras 11352 Gb -> 11.3 TB.
As soon as you switch on motion detect, the motion sequences are also recorded. With continuous motion, the amount of data can almost double.
B) Cloudkey resources
I do the recordings with my Qnap TS-453u. I have installed the "unifi video" software as a container. With max. 5 cams I have no performance problems.
You need around 3Mbits/s per camera for recording, i.e. 36Mbits/s for all of them.
I don't know the technical data of the CloudKey, but it should be able to cope with this "small" amount of data for continuous streaming. If each camera also has Motiondetect, then the amount of data or computing work becomes much greater. I can imagine that this is similar to what happens on a PC. You can save a file with 1000MB much faster than if you save 2000 files with 500kb.
I don't know if your questions are answered, but maybe I've given you some hints to get you started.
Tip: Restarting or resetting and reinstalling the CloudKey is certainly worth a try. I have also had very good experience with Uniquiti support.
