From the manufacturer's site: "Resolution Support VGA(640 x 480) to WUXGA_RB (1920 x 1200) *RB = Reduced Blanking" - Does this mean that e.g. 1024 x 768 can also be "beamed" without black bars?

The native resolution of this projector is Full HD/16:9. PC and output device (projector) communicate with each other. The PC resolutions are reproduced from VGA to WUXGA. With a lower resolution than Full HD, a minimum of residual light will be visible in a darkened room.
