Does the HDMI connection also support monitors with a resolution of 2560x1440?

This should not be a problem, via USB-C even 3840 x 2160 pixels can be controlled via HDMI, with the appropriate HDMI cable. For 3840x2160, depending on the hardware installed in the USB-C hub, this may be 30 or even 60 Hz.
