Does anyone know how the local multiplayer mode works exactly? Does everyone really have to have a console if I want to play with 4 friends at home? That would be a joke :-(

Helpful answer

No, it's not necessary. You can play well in a group with one console, but you can also play with several, which means that (thanks to the additional screens) you have more features available than on just one TV or Switch.

We are talking about Nintendo here, don't forget that. No other console or company demands playing together among friends more. Forcing everyone to have a console would contradict the policy they have lived by since their founding ;-)

No, I don't think so. It will be possible to play with 1 Switch with several friends, but also you can play with several Switch's together. Anything else would be, as you say, a bad joke :')

Two people can play together with the Switch and, for example, each use one half of the original controller. As far as I know, the use of Elite Controllers is also possible.
Pairing up to 8 devices is only an "additional" feature. So if you only have one Sitch you can play with your friends without any problems. The question is how many of your friends can play with a Switch without the consoles reaching their limits.
