Connection to the mouse and keyboard does not work

Hi all, I have just installed the KVM switch. Switching back and forth between the two laptops works fine, but the mouse (Logitech Unifiying Dongle) and the keyboard (USB Wired), which I have attached in the KVM Switch under "Console"/USB Hub, do not work on either laptop.
Can anyone help me here? I have plugged in everything new twice:(

Have you checked the USB connection at the back of the switch?

Unfortunately, I have also had bad experiences with this product. It is not compatible with all mice. For example, a "normal" wired Logitech mouse (M500) not only didn't work, but when connected to the switch, it also brought the other USB devices (primarily keyboard) to a standstill. The USB devices were simply no longer recognised. 

The subsequent support from Delock was even worse; they simply blamed Logitech for the problem, even though the problems only occurred in connection with the switch; the mouse works fine directly on the PC.

Do I need to connect the laptops with a USB cable in addition to the DisplayPorts (or HDMI)? I have only connected the mouse and keyboard to the switch. There were no operating instructions in the delivery and I haven't found any on the Internet either:( Thanks for the help!!!
