Can the monitor also switch on HP notebooks via the "Dell Power Button Sync" (DPBS) function? In other words, when you press the monitor's power button...
Unfortunately I can't answer that either, as I also have MAC at home and IBM in the office.
But what works really well is to use the monitor as a "hub"... you effectively only need to connect 1 thunderbolt cable to the laptop and everything else is connected directly to the monitor... really cool!
