Delock 89297 PCI Express 4x USB 3.0
Can someone explain to me why this card does not simply draw power via the PCI-E but requires a satellite cable? Doesn't make much sense for a few slots.
Full-size PCI-E slots (x16) emit up to 75W, but PCI-E 1x is limited to 10W by default (if I'm not mistaken) and could be set to 25W depending on the bios.
I assume that Delock is taking the safe route so that the end user does not have to deal with how many watts he can draw and where and whether he can adjust this in the bios. That's why I suspect there is simply a SATA power connector on this card for the sake of simplicity :)
I can't explain it either. I also found it tedious to order a SATA cable after installation. Unfortunately, my PC does not have any spare connections. If anything, at least one Y cable belongs with this card.
