According to the manufacturer, the update to Chrome OS 69 brings this function :) This update was released at the end of September.

In a youtube video, a guy has Visual Studio code running from the terminal, so I would say yes.

Does this work on all Chromebooks? So also with cheap ones like e.g.:
Acer Chromebook 14 CB3-431-C6V9 (14", Full HD, Intel Celeron N3160, 4GB, eMMC)
