Can I save directly to the cloud (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) instead of internally to the SD card? Or is it even possible to do both?
Hello Tucson. According to the user manual, both should be possible. I myself "only" have an SD card, cloud storage usually costs extra, so I did without it.
Hello Tucson. There are several ways to store the streams. SD, TAPO Cloud (for a fee) and/or to a NAS. I use a Synology NAS which offers the free "Surveillance Station" for 2 cameras (licenses for additional cameras can be purchased). The tapos are very easy to integrate and the software has intelligence in it that detects movement or events. So you can easily jump through the recordings. I store the 24/7 streams locally in the NAS for 30 days (period selectable), after which they are automatically deleted. Excerpts can be created and saved separately later.
You can try Tapo Care Cloud for 30 days for free and it works very easily. The big advantage is that you can easily access the saved streams at any time and from anywhere and have unlimited memory at your disposal. But it costs a monthly or annual fee per camera. With the NAS, you have to set up a DYNDNS so that you can connect to the Surveillance Station outside your own network.
You cannot connect directly to another cloud. This is only possible via surveillance software, where you can choose where the storage location should be.
Hello Tucson. I'm afraid I can't answer that because I only ordered the camera as an alternative, but it was never used.
