Can I connect an XLR microphone with the Motu M2 and then use the monitor outputs to pass the signal into the 3.5mm microphone input on my camera?

Tried it out. It also works when the Motu is connected via a computer and also draws power.
(Canon R6, cinch to mini-jack)

Yes, cinch to 3.5 jack adapter cable works. 1. you will have to work with very little gain in the Motu as long as your cam does not have a line input and 2. the Motu must be supplied with power via USB, otherwise it will not work. A power bank might also work if you want to work mobile.

That should work. Cables from Cinch or Jack to MiniJack (3.5mm) should be used at the output.
