Compact, but what a workhorse!

Made a conscious decision to "downgrade". I was a "15-incher" with MacBook Pros for years before, but the weight and size became too much for me over time. After five years, I needed a new device anyway. And since Apple only makes 16-inchers now, the decision was clear: a 13-inch is much more comfortable for travelling.

What's in this machine is currently hard to beat in the field of laptops in general; not even top-of-the-line models from other manufacturers or slightly outdated Intel machines in the Apple range can keep up... Computing power, reaction speed (start laptop/software, browse the internet, import/export data), multitasking, all top-notch! Plus an incredible battery life (in normal use (without heavy software use) up to 20 hours are feasible with a full charge).

And the M1 13-inch MacBook Pro is also incredibly quiet.

Since upgrades are not possible afterwards, I recommend at least the 1TB model with 16GB RAM to be on the safe side.

The only small drawback: the weak speakers - for people who have previously worked on larger laptops for a long time. But that's a matter of getting used to them. The speakers aren't bad, just perhaps worse than you're used to on 15- or 16-inchers.
The touch bar is perhaps not everyone's cup of tea.
And the device only has two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports (plus a speaker output).

Conclusion: On the whole, a laptop behemoth - in a positive sense. The overall package deserves the highest score. The negative aspects are minor and can be forgiven. Only a new M1 16-inch MacBook Pro will be able to leave this machine behind. more
