cheap, fast, minimalist.

I bought this monitor for a friend. 27'' 1440p, 144hz and a VA panel were the specifications, and this monitor meets them at a very low price.

about the picture:
it is a curved VA panel with 144hz and no synchronisation technology. VA has its advantages and disadvantages: the biggest advantage is clearly the contrast. black is so black that it is only blacker with OLED. no glow like with IPS panels, no washed-out dark grey like with TN panels, just black. beautiful. plus usable viewing angles and colour quality somewhere between TN and IPS. in a darkened room, the thing just looks great.
the biggest disadvantage of VA is the relatively long response time of the pixels. this should not be confused with input lag! slow pixels result in motion blur, not lag. and yes, the motion blur is there. not dramatically, with the overdrive setting "faster" it is limited, but compared to my dell s2417dg with TN panel it is noticeable. the compromise here is between motion sharpness and picture quality: the samsung has much nicer colours and much more contrast than the dell, but the dell has almost no motion blur.

about the input lag: i'm a long-time CS:GO player, so i have high expectations for my monitor. and the samsung here convinces me. my dell s2417dg is one of the fastest monitors on the market, and as far as input lag is concerned, i can't tell the difference. even with the 240fps slow mo camera, no difference could be detected, so in the worst case, the samsung would be one frame behind the dell. for competitive gaming, i would still prefer the dell, because even with fast movements, everything stays clear and sharp, while on the samsung, everything gets a bit soft.

about the rest of the monitor:
this is a very cheap monitor, compared to the specifications. and you can see that. the stand is made of cheap plastic, and doesn't allow any adjustment. the power supply is external, the monitor has no speakers (not really a point of criticism, nobody needs them anyway), there are no accessories except an HDMI cable. but the monitor has a 75mm vesa mount, so it can be attached to another monitor arm. if all this doesn't bother you, you get a versatile gaming monitor that is a lot of fun for a very low price. more
