Challenging DIY for non-Init7 ISPs

16.01.2019: I finally switched to Init7 and was able to make use of this. I'm very happy and you will be too. Just be sure to have the switch on the back set to auto and you might also need to wait up to 1 hour. The best resource I found for fiber to the home, which includes information for Init7, Sunrise, and Swisscom is here:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5...

08.08.2016: This relatively low rating is completely based on the fact that it does not work with Sunrise according to my 08.08.2016 call with technical support. They explained that their equipment registration system is very restrictive, and even a firmware upgrade to authorized equipment can result in their system blocking a device. I tried cloning the MAC address from their equipment, but that did not fix the problem.

In the end I gave up since I was locked into a contract with Sunrise. My contract will be over soon and I am considering switching to Fiber7. I will post an update if I switch ISPs.

... but that has nothing to do with the device but rather with the restrictive policies of Sunrise. Why do you rate the product badly?

Actually work also with Sunrise. The technical support does not help. You have to set the correct VLAN ID on WAN port.

From Googling it seems that as @Paku360 said it should be possible to get this working with VLAN ID tagging on the WAN port, which some routers support natively. I have not been able to get it to work yet, but I am still trying. I will post an update with my success or failure.

Sunrise use VLAN tagging for their services, assign VLAN id 131 on wan port OF your router and you're able to reach internet.

The suggested numbers I found were 10, 131, or 103. Do any of those work for you?

Two other tips I found that might be helpful is that the switch on the back should be set to auto and the device connected to the adapter has to use a gigabit connection.

I can assure you that the converter work as intended. Under IPTV tab put 131 on

"internet" id tag and let some time to take a public dhcp ip. If it's not working it may be a defect on the converter. use the transceiver provided by sunrise.

With the new white Sunrise Router comes a receiver SFP-31W2A (SM-10) -DR. That's a different one than from the old fibre converter Inkl. with the fritz box. The old was a SFP-21W2A only 100mbit, the new is a 1Gb module, maybe is that your problem.
