Frequency response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz. This vintage-style microphone features a Class-A signal path with a CineMag transformer, Fairchild transistors, and Wima capacitors. As a classic small diaphragm microphone, it is suitable for a variety of applications, including acoustic and electric guitars and basses, drums, piano, strings, and brass instruments. By using a CineMag output transformer with a nickel core, the WA-84 delivers a remarkably large sound for its small size. In recent years, small diaphragm condenser microphones have been predominantly built without transformers to simplify design and reduce manufacturing costs. Warm Audio has consciously chosen to go against this trend in the development of the WA-84. Instead, it has resulted in a boutique design with the legendary sound of the 60s and 70s, known for its crystal-clear yet creamy smooth tone.
