Product details
A classic with excellent imaging performance. This lens telephoto zoom lens is quite handy and lightweight despite its length of about 460 mm. The thoughtful design (without a built-in aperture) allows for the use of 8 lenses in 5 groups, resulting in outstanding, color-accurate, and sharp images. The relative aperture of 1:8.0 enables a bright viewfinder image when used outdoors, making it suitable for wildlife photography or detail shots in landscapes.
The lens does not have a selectable aperture: the maximum possible opening is always available, and the lens is corrected for this, delivering its highest performance without being diminished by light diffraction at the aperture blades. The initial aperture assigned to each zoom range is engraved on the mount for reference.
User advantage: The attached 360° rotatable tripod mount allows for balanced attachment to a tripod and easy switching between portrait and landscape orientation. A close focus limit of about 5 m at a setting of 1300 mm enables nature photographers to select exciting subjects.
The lens works in shutter priority or manual mode on most cameras. More details can be found in your camera's manual.
T2 connection, usage tip: The T2 adapter is screwed onto the lens, and then the lens is locked onto the camera. The side screws on the T2 adapter allow for "uprighting" the lens after loosening - aligning the index for infinity or the depth of field marks upwards. Retightening the screws secures the lens and adapter reliably.
Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor: Save time in post-processing. Many lens errors such as distortion, edge softness, or vignetting occur in the outer areas of the image. When using a lens designed for full-frame on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not utilized.
