Product details

M-Bus Master

The M-Bus module (753-649) serves as an M-Bus master and enables a direct connection of M-Bus slaves to the WAGO I/O System 750. An M-Bus (Meter-Bus) is a field bus for the transmission of energy consumption data collected by M-Bus slaves such as heat meters, water meters, electricity meters, and gas meters, as well as sensors and actuators of any kind.

The M-Bus master communicates with the M-Bus slaves and acts as the interface between the M-Bus and the processing software. Upon request, the M-Bus master reads the energy consumption data via the 2-wire line of the M-Bus and transfers it for further processing or visualization to the higher-level control system. Requests can alternatively be implemented via the PLC using IEC-61131-3 function blocks or through a PC application.

The power supply for the M-Bus slaves is provided by the M-Bus master. The use of a separate level converter is not necessary. The M-Bus technology is defined in the technical standard EN 13757, which specifies the communication systems for meters and their remote reading.

Single and multi-colored LEDs indicate operational readiness and trouble-free local bus communication, as well as the status of signal transmission. The M-Bus connection modules are designed to be short-circuit proof.
