The WAGO interface module RS-232/SMI provides a unified interface for SMI-compliant electric drives. The interface represents a pure physical level conversion between the standardized RS-232 interface and the SMI level. The interface module allows for the operation of up to 16 SMI drives. The complete SMI functionality can be utilized. Communication between applications and SMI drives occurs via special WAGO I/O-PRO function blocks. These blocks enable individual addressing, group addressing, and status queries. The SMI interface module can be used with RS-232 onboard interfaces of programmable fieldbus controllers from the 750 series and with the serial RS-232 interface 750-650/003-000 or 753-650/003-000. The interface module must be externally powered with a DC voltage of 24 V. The 24V operating voltage and the RS-232 connections are galvanically isolated from the SMI connections. The operating voltage connections are galvanically connected to the RS-232 connections. Installation is carried out on a mounting rail (TS 35).
