Product details

As part of the poesiefestival berlin, poets from the Netherlands and Flanders meet their German-speaking colleagues and translate each other. The VERSschmuggel translation workshop works with a special method: translating poetry with poetry. The poets work together in pairs and translate each other's poems into their own poetic language on the basis of interlinear translations, supported by literary translators. This creates a direct exchange that enables stylistic contexts, cultural connotations and poetic traditions to be "smuggled" into one's own language. The results of this large translation meeting can be read in this book and listened to thanks to QR codes. The German-Dutch VERSschmuggel is a joint project of the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin, the Netherlands Foundation for Literature and the Flemish Literature Fund With poems by Mustafa Stitou (Netherlands) and Jan Wagner (Germany), K. Michel (Netherlands) and Michael Speier (Germany), Anneke Brassinga (Netherlands) and Oswald Egger (Italy), Els Moors (Belgium) and Daniela Seel (Germany), Paul Bogaert (Belgium) and Farhad Showghi (Germany), Maud Vanhauwaert (Belgium) and Nora Gomringer (Germany).
