Product details
The Town House, previously known as the Post House, High House, Big House, or Half House, is one of the most beautiful buildings in St. Gallen. It was built in the 16th century as a private and trading house by Hans Schlumpf, a wealthy textile merchant. Today, it serves as the administrative seat of the local citizen community of St. Gallen. The richly illustrated publication explores the history and unique architecture of the building. Contents include: St. John – a church before the Reformation, then a tool shed; The Big House – the construction and its retention in private ownership until the end of the 18th century; From Post House to Town House; The Town House as the seat of the local citizen community.
