Two hundred years later, the Grössenwahn publishing house wondered what might have become of the fairy tale characters if they were alive today. This sparked the idea to hold a competition and search for new fairy tales. What stories would contemporary authors create? What does a new, modern fairy tale of our time look like? The best fairy tales from the competition are collected in this book, showcasing wondrous events, kings, wise men and fairies, wizards and witches, enchanted animals, and both small and large people who rise to become heroes. All known conventions are drawn upon, and all rules are broken; natural and supernatural forces must come into play, spells are rephrased, and magical soups are brewed.
