Product details
The narrator tells the story of his arrest in December 1825, his imprisonment in St. Petersburg and his life as a state criminal. Through his account, the reader learns about how people who demanded social reforms were treated 200 years ago. This could only be done covertly until the uprising. After the condemnation, however, the so-called "Decembrists" proved that they were people to look up to. This was done mainly by artists and intellectuals, such as the Petrashevts around F.M. Dostoevsky or Lev Tolsrtoi. Their heritage is still considered sacred by Russians today. The way to their souls leads only through this sanctuary, of which N.I. Lorer is a part.
