The SMA series includes commonly used coaxial connectors with a screw lock. Depending on the design, they can be used up to a frequency of 18 GHz. The characteristic impedance is 50 ohms. Connector variants are available for flexible, semi-flexible, and semi-rigid cables. The PCB connectors of the SMA series are available as solder or press-fit types. Cables can be connected depending on the design by crimping, clamping, or soldering. SMA connectors are used in mobile communications, satellites, and measurement technology, among other applications. These connectors meet the ingress protection requirements between plug and socket in the mated condition according to IP 68. This protection class has been generally established for the SMA series.
