Product details
Remote Controlled Battery Main Switch / Bistable Relay
The TBS Remote Battery Switch (RBS) is an intelligent magnetic high-current relay capable of handling direct currents of up to 350 amps continuous load.
Used as a remote-controlled main switch
The RBS can be easily installed in the engine room or battery compartment, while being controlled from a more convenient location via a small switch mounted on the control panel. The RBS can also be controlled, for example, by a battery monitor or a managed lithium battery.
In addition to the remote control of the RBS, the buttons located above also allow for local opening or closing of the main contact. For external control, the RBS is equipped with a 5-wire interface cable. It can be configured to accept two-wire or one-wire ON/OFF commands to ensure optimal flexibility.
The RBS is a magnetically latching relay, meaning that no current is drawn from the battery when the contact is closed. This is a significant advantage compared to conventional relays that require a (sometimes substantial) holding current to keep the contact closed.
Another advantage of the RBS is its built-in protection features. It is protected against high/low supply voltage and high temperature. Additionally, there is an intelligent function for automatic fixing of light to moderate contact welds. Finally, the RBS is also ignition protected according to ISO 8846.
As a member of the TBS DC Modular family, the RBS can be part of a very compact DC distribution system. The footprint of the RBS is approximately 50% smaller compared to some competing products, making it ideal for tight spaces.
The TBS Remote Battery Switch 500A is available in 12 VDC, 24 VDC, and 48 VDC variants and is controlled via a positive signal.
