As Tamron's first lens for full-frame cameras with Sony E-Mount, it features a VC image stabilizer that allows for sharp ultra-telephoto shots handheld. The optical construction includes 25 elements in 16 groups, including several special glasses and hybrid aspheres to correct optical aberrations. The BBAR-G2 coating of the lenses minimizes reflections inside the lens and suppresses ghosting and flare, which are particularly common in backlit shots. At a focal length of 150 mm, the minimum focusing distance is 0.6 m, making the lens suitable for impressive close-up shots as well.
