Product details
The Tamiya dual motor gearbox is a compact unit featuring two independent motors and gearboxes. The set includes two motors as well as all gears and parts needed to build one of four possible gear ratios (12.7:1, 38:1, 115:1, and 344:1). Although it is not common, it is possible to mount each side with different gear ratios. There are two possible positions for the output shaft (only one output position is possible for a specific gear ratio). The output shafts are 3 mm hexagonal shafts that are 10 cm long from tip to tip. The shafts are compatible with all Tamiya wheels, giving you many options for your robot's speed. The low-voltage motors operate at 3-6 volts and draw up to several amps, making them perfect candidates for the DRV8833 motor driver. Overheating of the motors can occur due to excessive stalling, even at very low voltages. We recommend using stall sensors or simply monitoring your robot to ensure it does not remain stationary for more than a few seconds. For motor specifications, see the datasheet for the Mabuchi motor FA-130. Note: The universal gearbox set is a kit; assembly is required. To use the set in robotics projects, you will need to connect the motors to your own robot controller.
