This Thunderbolt 3 to USB 3.1 controller adapter offers double the performance of a standard USB 3.1 hub with four ports. This allows you to connect a wide range of devices to your Thunderbolt 3 laptop. The controller adds four USB ports via the USB buses: two USB-A (5 Gbit/s), one USB-C (10 Gbit/s), and one USB-A (10 Gbit/s).

High-performance ports with 10 Gbit/s: The two 10 Gbit/s ports are designed for accessing high-performance devices that require significant bandwidth, such as storage arrays, 3D scanners, audio and video capture and playback devices, as well as external solid-state drives. A second USB-C device with 10 Gbit/s can be connected through the Thunderbolt 3 port. If only one port is used, the full 10 Gbit/s is available. When both 10 Gbit/s ports are used simultaneously, the available bandwidth for both devices is 5 Gbit/s each.

Ports with 5 Gbit/s: The two 5 Gbit/s ports provide each device with a bandwidth of 5 Gbit/s, making them ideal for devices like external hard drives. You can also connect low-bandwidth devices, such as USB flash drives. The front USB-A port supports data transfer and charging. It is not necessary to connect the adapter to a Thunderbolt 3 computer to charge your mobile devices.

Expand your workstation: The adapter features a second Thunderbolt 3 port, allowing you to connect an additional monitor to your laptop (a USB-C video adapter may be required).
