Product details

The SparkFun Touch Potentiometer, also known as the Touch Pot, is an advanced linear capacitive touch sensor that offers the functionality of a potentiometer with 256 positions. It can be used both as a peripheral for computers or embedded microcontrollers and in standalone operation. The Touch Potentiometer allows for both analog and PWM outputs, enabling direct control of other circuits. The configurable transfer functions for analog and PWM signals support a variety of applications, including volume control and LED dimming. The Touch Potentiometer is controlled by a Microchip PIC16F1829 8-bit microcontroller, which provides the interface to the host, LED control, capacitive sensing, and peripheral control functions. With an integrated low-dropout voltage regulator, it can operate over a range of input voltages up to 12V, and the breadboard-friendly connections make it easy to use.

  • Dual host interfaces: logic level serial and I2C
  • Two 8-bit 20 k-ohm 3-terminal digitally controlled variable resistor outputs
  • PWM output for flexible control
  • 8-LED display with multiple display modes and intensity levels
  • Configurable parameters for the touch sensor to adapt to various applications.
