The ST-H ultrasonic sensors utilize ultrasonic technology for level measurement in storage tanks containing chemicals and containers with liquids. The slim design of the ST-H allows for installation over a 2" (50.8 mm) standpipe. When properly installed, it is completely shielded from the process and can be used even in challenging, corrosive environments. During operation, the ultrasonic sensor emits acoustic pulses in a narrow sound cone. The transmission axis is perpendicular to the sensor's emitting surface. The transducer measures the time taken between sending the pulse and receiving the echo, calculating the distance from the sensor to the medium. Changes in sound speed due to temperature fluctuations within the measurement range are automatically compensated for by the integrated temperature sensor.
